Social media best practices for 2025 according to Conscious Solutions

Over the last few years, the social media landscape has changed drastically. We won’t harp on about X, changing algorithms, changing image dimensions and everything else that’s been happening. Will 2025 be another year of change? Well, we hope not, but we expect it won’t be smooth sailing. Still, there are some best practices to follow to be on top of the law firm social media game in 2025.

AI

Many popular social media platforms have begun implementing AI tools on their sites. LinkedIn, for example, has implemented some handy AI-powered tools for those with a premium account. You can edit your Headline, “About” section and “Experience” section using their AI-powered writing assistant to enhance your profile. This is a useful way to ensure you are covering all your key skills and achievements in your profile and bulk out your “About” section if you aren’t sure what to write.

That being said, we wouldn’t recommend using AI to write your actual LinkedIn (or other social media) posts. However, with the premium LinkedIn account, you could use AI to rewrite a post if you want to make it sound better, but aren’t sure what to add, or use it to generate some content ideas. The best-performing posts on LinkedIn seem to be those written in a person’s tone of voice (TOV), including imagery and sharing personal stories, so AI is going to struggle to tick all of those boxes.

Refine your Platforms

One trend we saw in 2024, which we expect to continue in 2025, is the number of platforms law firms use for their online presence. Social media is a full-time job, and if you aren’t consistently posting, following what’s trending and staying on top of the updates, it is easy to fall behind. Therefore, a social media strategy incorporating every platform will be hard to keep on top of (unless you have a dedicated social media manager!).

We are seeing law firms stick to one or two platforms where they have seen real benefits, growth, and engagement in 2024 and are putting in the same amount of time and effort as they would if they were on five platforms.

Podcasts and Video

There was a significant rise of video and podcast content being shared in 2024, and we expect to see this trend continue in 2025. Social media platforms have made it clear that video content is the content they want to see, and they have been prioritising this content on their social media feeds. LinkedIn still seem to be playing around with how videos show in the feed, but it’s definitely one to watch for 2025.
