Mayur Patil wins inaugural Xperate MVP Award

Xperate recently announced the winner of the inaugural Xperate MVP Award. This is a competition held in our Pune office to find and celebrate the standout performer within the team. We have a team of talented, hard-working individuals and choosing a winner was certainly not easy! Following an intensive evaluation process, we were extremely pleased to reveal that Mayur Patil, Senior Software Developer, was the worthy winner of our MVP Award.

Drawing inspiration from the Indian Premier League’s comprehensive MVP selection system, our competition employed a strict scoring system to assess team members. Our Directors evaluated the team using a detailed point system that considered various aspects of professional performance. The criteria consisted of technical proficiency, project management, attention to detail, time optimisation and client relationships.

Mayur distinguished himself not only through his exceptional technical capabilities but also through his outstanding leadership qualities. His ability to independently manage complex client projects while maintaining the highest standards of delivery has been second to none. His exceptional communication skills, unwavering commitment to client satisfaction, and natural ability to work collaboratively make him an invaluable figure within the team. These qualities perfectly embody the core values that Xperate stands for.

As a reward for his outstanding achievements, Mayur visited the UK in October, dividing his time between London and Winchester. During his stay, he worked alongside UK colleagues, attended our Company Kick-off event and joined in the celebration of Xperate’s 3rd birthday lunch at a restaurant on the Southbank. He also took the opportunity to explore London’s iconic landmarks and immerse himself in the city’s cultural experiences and activities.

We spoke to Mayur about his success and his experience in the UK.

How do you feel about winning the Xperate MVP award?

Winning the Xperate MVP Award is truly an honour and I feel incredibly humbled to be recognised. It reflects not only the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my projects but also the amazing collaboration and support from my colleagues. This award motivates me to continue delivering high-quality work, embracing new challenges, and help contribute to the growth and success of Xperate. I’m excited for the future and grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact!

Describe your trip to the UK.

The UK was, is, and always will be splendid! I was amazed by the beautiful views, organised roads, and, this may sound funny, by the complete absence of horn-honking (which you become accustomed to in India!)

The adventure started even before landing, as I had the chance to meet famous Bollywood singer Shaan who was on the same flight. Once in the UK, Mark introduced me to the classic “fish and chips” – I loved it! The next day, we visited Richmond Park, walked around 5 kilometres, enjoyed a mocha coffee, and ended the day at a pub, where I tried a small fried fish that I really liked.

London was breath-taking. I took a walking tour and marvelled at the blend of skyscrapers and greenery. I also took a trip on the London Eye and saw the city from above, which was an unforgettable experience.

During my visit, I tried a variety of cuisines – Turkish, Indian, and authentic British dishes – but I’m saving room for Eggs Benedict until my next visit, hopefully!

Did you have any client meetings whilst in the UK?

Yes, I attended a client meeting during my trip. We had lunch together, and I was able to provide some input during the discussions. It was my first direct conversation with them, and it was a great opportunity to discuss their project in more detail and understand how our work will make a difference to their firm.

What was your favourite thing during your time in the UK?

The weather! It was very pleasant – cool, but not too cold. Coming from the hot Indian summer, it was a refreshing change. Mayur – the weather is not something us Brits are usually complimented on!

Did you enjoy the Xperate birthday lunch?

I thoroughly enjoyed the Xperate birthday lunch. The food and drinks were excellent, but the real highlight was meeting everyone I work with in person. I also had the chance to meet some clients that we work with and we had insightful discussions about areas where we could offer further support.

Outline the main differences you found between India and the UK.

The air in the UK feels much cleaner, there’s less traffic, and no honking, which is a stark contrast to what I’m used to. The food is also milder – still flavourful, but not as spicy as Indian cuisine. Learning to eat with a knife and fork was a new experience for me – so much so that I even ate a burger that way!
