What is Working Timekeeper Automation in Expert Time?
Available in Aderant’s law firm time and billing software, Expert, Working Timekeeper Automation alerts approved billing lawyers when an unapproved timekeeper starts working on one of their matters. The feature then allows the approved lawyer to either accept or reject the new timekeeper in a few clicks. The billing lawyer will receive a workflow approval task within Expert the moment the unapproved timekeeper’s initial time entry is posted, and they can then authorise the timekeeper by completing the task.
What problem does the Working Timekeeper Automation address for Aderant clients?
When billing lawyers are immediately made aware of unauthorised timekeepers, they can proactively avoid unbillable work. The rejection of unapproved time is a major hurdle for many firms, and early awareness allows the firm to rectify issues before the invoice reaches the client. Working Timekeeper Automation also allows timekeepers who are not yet authorised to bill for a matter to track billable hours within the system while waiting for approval, ensuring a more accurate time capture.
The feature ultimately allows for more efficient management of billable timekeepers, since approved timekeepers can be assigned at a guideline level, removing the need to manually set them for each matter. The mechanism that launches the workflow will look to the matter or a matter’s client guidelines for timekeeper approval.
