Ambition welcomes students from Career Ready

On Thursday 8 December 2016 Ambition hosted 30 students from across the UK for an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit. The event, part of A Capital Experience, was organised in partnership with Career Ready, a national charity linking employers with schools and colleges to open up the world of work to young people.

During the afternoon Ambition’s consultants Sam Crosson, Natasha Dhariwal, Mat Reeves and Jessica Ramsey ran career workshops on networking, creating an elevator pitch and social media.

In total, 1,500 students from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, came to London to mark the start of their Career Ready programme. Ambition was one of more than 70 of the capital’s employers to support the event.

Career Ready aims to make young people work ready by delivering a programme of mentoring, masterclasses, workplace visits and internships in schools and colleges across the UK.

Ambition has been working with the charity for several years and as well as hosting career workshops, also offer several internships to students from the programme throughout the year.

Anne Spackman, Chief Executive of Career Ready, said: “The visits that took place across London today mark a big step in our students’ journeys. For many, this will have been their first visit to London, and to walk into the glass and marble towers of the capital and realise that they are welcome and that they could work there, is an inspirational moment. We hope that inspiration will stay with them throughout the programme and motivate them to aim higher in their future careers.

“We are very grateful to all the businesses and individuals who hosted our students today and we hope they found it as rewarding as our students did.”

Nicky Acuna Ocana, Managing Director of Ambition, said: “We have been running these workshops for many years and are always impressed by the level of engagement and enthusiasm shown by the students. They really seem to get a great deal out of the event, as do we. We always enjoy passing on our expertise to help students prepare for success in their future careers.”
