NetDocuments introduces ChatLink: A new way to work with MS Teams
NetDocuments, the leading secure multi-tenant cloud-based content services and productivity platform for law firms, corporate legal teams, and compliance departments, today announced the availability of ChatLink, an integration that links Microsoft Teams to NetDocuments. With ChatLink, Teams users now connect channels with NetDocuments workspaces and secure threads.
ChatLink enables users to continue working inside the Microsoft Teams interface while maintaining complete access to NetDocuments workspaces and conversations within ndThread to adhere to compliance and governance rules.
As the legal industry is often faced with content and document governance challenges, ChatLink solves for this by easily bringing NetDocuments into the Teams experience. Administrators can manually or programmatically associate a channel with an existing NetDocuments matter or project, making documents available in a tab within the channel. Likewise, an embedded view of associated chats in ndThread, allow for multiple conversations to happen within a matter while securing them to the matter file.
“The challenges caused by COVID-19 have accelerated the move toward new productivity approaches, and tools like Teams and ndThread are in high demand,” said Dan Hauck, Chief Product Officer at NetDocuments. “Based on our feedback from customers, we accelerated our development of ChatLink, and this solution can be delivered quickly to customers on our platform without the need for scheduled upgrades or downtime.”
The ChatLink application can be easily installed into Teams by an administrator, where tabs can then be created for each channel. The two tabs include NetDocuments and ndThread.
The NetDocuments Tab is associated with a specific workspace, allowing users in the channel to access related documents and delivers:
Complete NetDocuments functionality (check in/out, save, rename, preview, history, etc.)
Access to NetDocuments tools like CollabSpaces and SetBuilder
A simple way to provide collaboration in Teams while promoting document storage in NetDocuments
The ndThread tab is associated with a specific workspace, allowing threaded conversations to be saved. With this integration, legal professionals can:
Send and receive secure messages using ndThread
Preview and comment on documents
Store all conversations within the context of the matter or project workspace
Many NetDocuments customers have reported a seamless transition to work-from-home (WFH) thanks in large part to NetDocuments’ proven cloud technology. This latest integration and collaboration enhancement will further facilitate WFH. “NetDocuments’ ChatLink supplies the crucial link to our collaboration and integrated workspace initiative, which can now be delivered inside Teams,” stated Gene D’Versa, Director of Project Management with Husch Blackwell LLP, a Kansas-City-based Am Law 100 law firm.
